Let me first say

I love and respect GSP, yeah you may already know where this is heading. Ok GSP is a true professional and a great champion, he is unrivaled in his dedication to the sport, trains like no other fighter, has some of the best boxing in MMA, great skills on the ground, can control the action, where the fight goes, and has the athleticism to go 20 rounds. He is missing one thing in his tool belt though. The ability to finnish a fight as of late.

Lets break it down

So now that you have his Stats.

You can see he is great at winning decisions, the sad part with decisions is, they are not the best at wining over fans. If you are like me you do appreciate the skills of any good fighter, but I also do have a certain expectation for fighters when they reach a certain level and yes GSP is at that level. So what is GSP missing or better yet what is GSP not doing, well for me the answer is simple. He is not finishing his fights. Yes I know he had an eye injury but that was not until the third round. He was so dominate in the first two rounds I feel he could have finished it early. I know I might have high expectations but that's how it is when you are at the level GSP is.

For me it's simple

Work on finishing fights. He can take opponents down at will, he can out box anyone in his division, he can go 20 rounds full speed and his will is unbreakable.

So for GSP he now needs to work on ending fights. So how does he do this? That may be the million dollar question. I think it might have to do with his mind set, it's great he wants to be the best and maybe he has a vision about what the best is. It looks to me that he feels he needs to win every fight and looking at his stats he can not deny he is great. But you ask any MMA fan about his last five fights, it's pretty hard to name what stands out without putting a bit of thought behind it. Now if I ask you to to tell me about Anderson's last five fights it's easier to say yeah he knocked out a few and submitted the rest. Can you see where I'm going with this?

It could be GSP has the fear of losing in him so bad that it's turned him into a cautious fighter, maybe to much of a cautious fighter. Winning with skill and tools is great, but to be remembered I think you need more than that.

So in closing I will leave you with this, Maybe George St Pierre needs to remember what it feels like to loose again and leave it all on the line to win or loose his next fight. What ever it takes it just needs to happen. I'm sure we can all remember the punishment he put on BJ penn? That's the GSP I want to see again.
